The Rock say “If you smell what the rock is cookin”, Dwayne Douglas Johnson, also known as The Rock, was born on May 2, 1972 in Hayward, California, to Ata Johnson and Canadian-born professional wrestler Rocky Johnson.Johnson is a third-generation wrestler. His mother’s father, Peter “High Chief” Maivia, was a professional wrestler of Samoan descent whose heritage served as the basis for his ring persona. While growing up, Dwayne watched his father perform in the ring. During his high school years, Dwayne began playing football and he soon received a full scholarship from the University of Miami where he had tremendous success as a football player. In 1995, Dwayne suffered a back injury which cost him a place in the NFL. He then signed a 3 year deal with the Canadian League but left after a year to pursue a career in wrestling. He made his wrestling debut in the USWA under the name Flex Kavanah where he won the tag team championship with Brett Sawyer. In 1996, Dwayne joined the WWE and became Rocky Maivia where he joined a group known as “The Nation of Domination” and turned heel. Rocky eventually took over leadership of the “Nation” and began taking the persona of The Rock. After the “Nation” split, The Rock joined another elite group of wrestlers known as the “Corporation” and began a memorable feud with Steve Austin. Soon the Rock was kicked out of the “Corporation”. He turned face and became known as “The Peoples Champion”.

In 2000, the Rock took time off from WWE to film his appearance in The Mummy Returns (2001).He has since appeared in various films. He first made a big splash as the Scorpion King, a supernatural bad guy, in 2001’s The Mummy Returns. Johnson returned to this role the following year for The Scorpion King. Trying his hand at comedy, he appeared in 2005’s Be Cool with John Travolta and Uma Thurman and 2007’s The Game Plan. Johnson also appearances in Driver (2010) and his greatest success in his acting career can be sourced to his role as Luke Hobbs in The Fast and the Furious franchise 6 (2013).
In 2014, he starred as the most famous strong men of all time in Hercules. In 2015, Johnson appeared in Furious Seven and starred in San Andreas. Johnson also debuted his first dramatic comedy series that same year. He plays Spencer Strasmore, a retired pro footballer turned financial planner, on Ballers. His soon to release big films are Fast 8 (2017), Baywatch (2017), Jumanji (2017) and Rampage (2018). He hosted and produced The Hero, a reality competition series; and has since continued to produce TV series and films through his production company Seven Bucks Productions, each of which he also stars in. Forbes listed Johnson No. 25 in the Top 100 Most Powerful Celebrities in 2013. He is the world’s highest-paid actor of 2016. Time named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2016. In 2015, Muscle & Fitness named Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as their “Man of the Century.”Johnson’s autobiography “The Rock Says..” co-written with Joe Layden was published in 2000.

Johnson married Dany Garcia on May 3, 1997. The couple has a daughter, Simone Alexandra who was born August 14, 2001. On June 1, 2007, they announced their separation. Soon after the divorce, Johnson began dating Lauren Hashian, the daughter of Boston drummer Sib Hashian. Their first child, a daughter named Jasmine, was born in December 2015.
