Scarlett Johansson was born November 22, 1984 in New York City to Karsten Johansson, is an architect originally from Copenhagen, Denmark and Melanie Sloan, a producer. Her paternal grandfather, Ejner Johansson, was a screenwriter and director. She has an older sister, Vanessa who is also an actress. She has an older brother, Adrian and a twin brother, Hunter who appeared with her in the film Manny & Lo. Johansson also has an older half-brother, Christian, from her father’s first marriage. Johansson attended elementary school in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Manhattan. Johansson described herself as Jewish.
