When she was 15, she stumbled on Etta James and Ella Fitzgerald records at a local shop.
Adele told The Telegraph in a 2008 interview that there was no musical heritage in her family. She quoted “Chart music was all I ever knew. So when I listened to the Ettas and the Ellas, it sounded so cheesy, but it was like an awakening.I was like, oh, right, some people have proper longevity and are legends.I was so inspired that as a 15-year-old I was listening to music that had been made in the ’40s.”
Her first single to come out was “home town glory” based on the town she lived in, Brixton.
Her second single she had released was “chasing pavements” in 2008 which ended up to be in number 2 in UK chart.

As Adele’s career progressed she was criticized for her weight and about how she is larger than any other women singer. Adele responded, ” I don’t have time to exercise. I don’t want to be in the cover of the playboy or vogue. I am not a trendsetter. I am a singer. I would make and amazing album than do a shit album. My aim in life is to never be skinny.”
