Neil Patrick Harris was born on June 15, 1973 in  Albuquerque, New Mexico, U.S. Harris is an American actor, comedian, magician and singer. His parents were lawyers. He attended La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, graduating with high honors in 1991

Harris began  his career as a child actor. As a child actor he starred in Meldoff’s drama film ” Ciara’s Heart” and “Purple People Eater”.  In 1995 he starred in 1995’s thriller “Animal Room” having an adult role. Further Harris starred in several movies as  “The Next Best Thing” , ” Undercover Brother” , ” Starship Troopers”, stoner comedy films “Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle”, ” Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay”, and ” A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas”.

He also provided voice in animations such as ” Batman: Under the Red Hood” and the beagle Lou in the film “Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore” . Later in 2014 Harris played a serious role in “Gone Girl”.

Harris has worked on Broadway in both musical and dramatic roles. He played Tobias Ragg in the 2001 concert performances of Sweeney Todd.  In 2010, Harris directed a production of the rock musical Rent at the Hollywood Bowl; he cast his Beastly co-star Vanessa Hudgens as Mimi. In 2014 Harris won ” Tony Awards for Best Actor in a Musical”.

Harris has hosted the Tony Awards four times: the 63rd Tony Awards on June 7, 2009, 65th Tony Awards on June 12, 2011, the 66th Tony Awards on June 10, 2012, and the 67th Tony Awards on June 9, 2013. Only Dame Angela Lansbury, with five ceremonies, has hosted the Tony Awards more times. Hosting the Tony Awards has earned him three Emmy Awards; in 2010, 2012, and 2013 for the 63rd, 65th, and 66th respectively.

Harris is also known in the television series section as he played in many of the series as the title role of a child prodigy doctor in “Doogie Howser, M.D”. From 2005 to 2014, Harris played as Barney Stinson a serial womanizer, in the CBS ensemble sitcom “How I Met Your Mother”. The role earned him Emmy nominations every year from 2007 to 2010.

On September 15, 2015, “Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris”, a live variety series hosted by Harris on NBC, made its debut but was cancelled after an eight-episode run.

Harris confirmed that he is gay on November 4, 2006. Harris said his relationship with Burtka began in 2004. On August 14, 2010, Harris announced that he and Burtka were expecting twins via a surrogate mother. Their son, Gideon Scott, and daughter, Harper Grace, were born in October 2010.
